Professor Sir Lawrence Freedman is Professor of War Studies at King’s College London and a member of the Iraq Inquiry Committee. He is the official historian of the 1982 Falklands campaign.
According to the Inquiry, Freedman has written extensively on nuclear strategy and the cold war, as well as commentating regularly on contemporary security issues.
It is said that Freedman’s five point memo on liberal intervention was the basis for Tony Blair’s 1999 Chicago speech “Doctrine of the International Community”.
In 2006 Freedman published an article in Survival journal entitled “War in Iraq: Selling the threat“.
